In-Office
Procedures

Today’s woman has more options than ever before to resolve her most personal health concerns.  Using state-of-the-art technology, Midtown Obstetrics and Gynecology is pleased to offer a number of the latest and safest in-office gynecological and surgical procedures.

IMPLANON™ 3-year Implantable Contraceptive

For women looking for extended birth control, we offer the IMPLANON implantable contraceptive.  IMPLANON is an in-office procedure whereby a small, implantable contraceptive is placed under the skin of the upper arm.  Implanon contains a form of progesterone that works as birth control by stopping the release of the egg from the ovary and helping to stop the sperm from reaching the egg.  IMPLANON can last up to three years, and can be removed at any time should you choose to become pregnant.

Essure® Permanent Birth Control

Essure is a new FDA approved in-office alternative to tubal ligation.  Offered by Midtown physicians, women who no longer want to have children can undergo a quick 15-minute procedure for permanent birth control.  There are no incisions and little, if any, discomfort during the procedure.  Essure is truly permanent and is not reversible.  Therefore, only women who are certain they do not want to get pregnant in the future should consider this procedure.

Uterine Ablation for Heavy Menstrual Periods

For women who suffer from heavy menstrual periods,  we offer a minimally invasive in-office procedure to minimize bleeding.  Unlike a hysterectomy, a uterine (endometrial) ablation preserves the uterus and does not require any incisions.  The procedure involves applying heat to treat the uterus lining.  A quick 15-minute procedure, uterine ablation requires no hospital stay and a fast recovery with most women returning to their normal routine the very next day.  It is not safe to ever become pregnant after this procedure. Therefore, this procedure is for women who are willing to use continuous or permanent birth control.
